Nanjing City Wall Museum

Exhibition Hall Honored for Presenting the Cultural Heritage of the Nanjing City Wall to Audiences of All Ages

COMO, CO, ITALY, September 10, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- The A' Design Award has announced Nanjing City Wall Museum, an exhibition hall created by Yuan Zhuan and Quan Liu, as a Gold winner in the Interior Space and Exhibition Design category. The A' Design Award is a highly respected international competition that promotes excellence and innovation within the interior design industry. This recognition reflects a rigorous evaluation process in which designs are assessed against pre-established criteria by an expert jury panel. The selection of Nanjing City Wall Museum positions the work among notable examples of considered exhibition design, acknowledged for its contribution to cultural communication and public education.

The recognition of Nanjing City Wall Museum holds relevance for the broader interior and exhibition design community, as it demonstrates how heritage interpretation can be balanced with engaging, accessible spatial experiences. The project responds to growing interest in immersive, multi-sensory environments that connect diverse audiences with cultural history. By integrating authentic artifacts with digital interactivity, the design aligns with current standards for inclusive exhibition spaces. Visitors of all ages benefit from a viewing path that combines macro-level narratives with tactile, hands-on engagement.

Developed under the concept of Presenting the Wall, the exhibition hall traces the construction, preservation, and inheritance of the Nanjing City Wall across five distinct zones. The design is dominated by city wall gray, accentuated by thematic colors such as Forbidden City red and moat blue, enriching visual layering and embodying cultural depth. A pioneering array space made of nearly a thousand city bricks, sourced directly from the Nanjing City Wall and bearing unique inscriptions, anchors the exhibition with steel structures that ensure safe display. The hall is China's first to integrate an ancient city sandbox with a colored terrazzo inlaid floor map, while over twenty modules including 3D sandboxes, tactile artifacts, and interactive installations close the distance between audiences and the Wall.

This recognition is anticipated to inform future projects within the cultural exhibition field, encouraging continued exploration of heritage-led design and digital interpretation. The achievement serves as motivation for the team to advance their commitment to innovative and culturally meaningful exhibition spaces.
